What is Solar Power?

Solar power is generated when sunlight is converted into electricity. This process occurs by one of two methods. The first method is called Photovoltaics (PV). Photovoltaics converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. The second method is called Concentrated Solar Power (CSP). What is the Feed in Tariffs (FiTs) scheme?

In April 2010, the government announced plans that it was backing a scheme known as the Feed in Tariffs (FiTs). This scheme rewards those who choose to generate all, or part, of their energy from renewable sources. The FiTs is available to both commercial and residential customers.
